Self-Organized Group of AuPair Workers

We seek to make AuPair work visible and to recognise the valuable contributions that AuPairs make. To support this, we are developing a network that provides information and assistance to AuPairs during their stay in Austria. Additionally, we aim to raise awareness and advocate for changes to public policies that leave migrant workers highly vulnerable.

Why is AuPair Work so vulnerable?

Migratory Status

An AuPair's migratory status is entirely dependent on the host family, who are allowed to terminate the contract without reason and with just a one-week notice period.

It is difficult to establish boundaries between private life and work, since both exist in the same physical space.

A lack of language proficiency makes it difficult to access essential information such as the legal rights available to an AuPair.

Addressing these issues requires comprehensive support. Host families and relevant authorities should also be educated about the unique challenges that AuPairs face and we encourage them to uphold fair treatment and respect for AuPair's rights.
